This instrument was designed to measure frequencies in the ultra-high frequency (UHF) range, specifically from 250 MHz to 1200 MHz.
Uses a butterfly capacitor and inductor thru a IN22 diode to a 200 µA meter.
How it works:
The Type 1140-A uses a tuned circuit consisting of a butterfly capacitor and an inductor. When the wavemeter is tuned to the frequency of an external radio signal, the circuit resonates, and the meter deflects. By reading the dial on the capacitor, the user can determine the frequency of the signal.
